The economy plays a leading role in almost every decision we make, and unfortunately, our health is no exception. You wake up in the morning with a slight twinge in your tooth. "It’ll pass," you tell yourself. But then, that slight twinge turns into a throbbing ache that wakes you up in the middle of the night. In that precise moment, two questions race through your mind simultaneously: "Can I save this tooth?" followed immediately by, "How much is this going to cost me?"
Here in Bostanlı, one of the most delightful and upscale neighborhoods of Izmir, we at Videntis Dental Clinic place immense value on transparent communication with our patients. As we leave 2025 behind and prepare to step into 2026, we know that changes in dental pricing, specifically the costs of fillings and root canal treatments, are a topic of curiosity for everyone.
We know what you want. You want to go online, type "2026 dental filling price Izmir," and see a clear-cut figure, like a menu at a restaurant. However, healthcare is not a supermarket run, and the process works a bit more complexly than that.
In this article, we will openly discuss the logic behind the guide tariffs determined by the Turkish Dental Association (TDB), the pricing dynamics in Izmir—specifically the Bostanlı region—and those "hidden" factors that change the price tag of a filling or a root canal.
Sometimes patients call us and ask, "How much for a filling?" We wish the answer could be as simple as saying "X Lira." But it isn't. Because what you refer to as "just a filling" could be a simple 15-minute procedure, or it could be a complex restoration requiring high-end materials and serious artistry.
Imagine walking into a tailor’s shop and asking, "How much to sew a dress?" Can the tailor give you a price without knowing the fabric, the design, the difficulty of the stitching, or the occasion you’ll wear it for? They cannot. Dentistry is exactly the same; in fact, it is even more sensitive because every mouth is as unique as a fingerprint.
Therefore, always approach internet ads screaming "Shock Price" or "Huge Campaign" with caution. In healthcare, quality is directly proportional to the standard of materials used and the experience of the physician. And let’s be honest; rarely does anything truly "high quality" stand side-by-side with the word "cheap."
Let’s talk about fillings. In its simplest definition, it is the process of cleaning out tooth decay and filling the resulting cavity with an artificial material. However, as we enter 2026, filling technologies and their costs have diversified significantly. Why do you hear different numbers when getting quotes from different clinics in Izmir?
In the past, we had amalgam (grey/silver) fillings. They were cheap and durable, but far from aesthetic. Today, in modern clinics like Videntis, we almost never use them. Instead, "Composite Resins" (tooth-colored aesthetic fillings) have become the gold standard.
However, not all composites are created equal. The brand, the particle size (nano-hybrid vs. micro-fill), the light-curing properties, and the polishability all affect the price. Then there are "Ceramic Inlays/Onlays." These are custom-made in a laboratory. Their cost is higher than a standard filling, but their lifespan and durability are far superior, bridging the gap between a filling and a crown.
In dentistry, pricing is generally based on the "number of surfaces" involved. Is the decay only on the top biting surface of your tooth? Or has it spread to the side, touching the neighbor tooth?
One-Surface Filling: The most cost-effective.
Two-Surface Filling: Labor and material usage increase, so does the price.
Three-Surface (or more): A large portion of the tooth is gone. Restoring this requires architectural skill to ensure the tooth doesn't break. This is the highest tier of filling pricing.
If the filling is on a front tooth, "art" enters the equation. It is not enough to just fill the hole; the dentist must mimic the natural translucency, texture, and shape of the tooth so it is invisible to the naked eye. Often referred to as "Bonding," these procedures require much more time and delicate craftsmanship than a back molar filling, which naturally reflects on the cost.
We have arrived at the procedure patients fear the most (both for the pain—which is a myth with modern anesthesia—and the cost): Root Canal Treatment. Actually, a root canal is the last fortress protecting your tooth from extraction. When a tooth is pulled, replacing it with an implant or a bridge costs significantly more than saving it. So, when looking at 2026 prices, remember this: Even the cheapest implant is more expensive than the most expensive root canal treatment. Saving your own tooth is always the most economical route.

So, what changes the price of a root canal in Izmir?
Front teeth usually have a single root and a single canal. They are easier to access, clean, and fill. However, back molars can have 3, sometimes 4 narrow and curved canals. As the number of canals increases, the time the dentist spends, the number of sterile instruments (files) used, and the amount of filling material all increase. This is directly reflected in the price.
Saving a tooth that has had a failed root canal in the past (Re-treatment) is much more difficult than doing a root canal from scratch. Removing the old filling material, bypassing blockages, and cleaning out the reinfection requires serious expertise, often involving an Endodontist (Root Canal Specialist). Therefore, prices for re-treatments are typically higher than standard procedures.
Success rates in root canal treatments soar above 90% when advanced technology is used, as we do here at Videntis in Bostanlı.
Rotary Systems: Special flexible nickel-titanium files that clean curved canals perfectly.
Apex Locators: Digital devices that measure the length of the root tip with millimetric precision.
Digital Imaging: Reducing radiation while seeing every detail. While the use of such technology is a factor that influences the cost, it is profitable in the long run because it significantly extends the time the tooth stays in your mouth.
It is impossible to talk about 2026 prices without mentioning the "Turkish Dental Association" (TDB). Every year, the TDB publishes a "Guide Tariff" (Rehber Tarife) for dentists. This tariff determines the minimum (floor) price for a procedure. However, this is not a "ceiling" price.
In metropolitan areas like Izmir, the location of the clinic (for example, the premium nature of Bostanlı vs. a remote district), rent expenses, personnel costs, the quality of devices used, and the experience of the physician are added onto this base price to form the final fee.
For 2026, our expectation is that there will be an update in the TDB guide tariff in line with rising material costs (most high-quality dental materials are imported and tied to currency exchange rates) and general inflation. However, as Videntis, our priority is to reflect these increases to our patients at a minimum level, remaining accessible without ever compromising on quality.
Sometimes our patients might say, "But this other place offers fillings for half the price." We respect that. However, there are "invisible costs" in dentistry. When poor-quality filling material is used, that filling may leak within a year. Leakage means bacteria getting under the filling, causing the tooth to rot again, often silently. This time, that tooth will need a root canal. If the root canal fails due to poor technique, the tooth might need extraction. Then, you are looking at an implant.
That filling, which seemed "cheap" at first, can cost you the price of an implant within 3-4 years. Whereas a treatment performed with top-tier materials and excellent craftsmanship—which might seem slightly more costly initially—can remain problem-free in your mouth for 10-15 years, or even a lifetime. The most economical treatment is the one that is done correctly, once.
At Videntis Dental Clinic, when a patient sits in our chair, we first perform a detailed examination. We take your panoramic X-ray and show you the condition of your teeth on the screen using an intraoral camera. "Look," we say, "This is the situation. If we do a standard filling, this is the prognosis. If we choose a porcelain inlay, this is the benefit."
You will know the treatment plan and the total cost down to the penny before we even touch a tool. Surprise extras or changing figures at the checkout desk are things that simply do not happen at our clinic.
If you feel a problem with your teeth or just want a routine check-up and price information, do not waste time with outdated or misleading lists on the internet. If you live in Bostanlı or if your path leads to Izmir, we invite you to Videntis for a coffee.
Let us perform your examination. Before we enter 2026, perhaps we can plan those treatments you have been postponing under much more favorable conditions. Remember, as dental problems are postponed, not only does the pain grow, but so does the cost.
Don't delay. Entrust your smile to the assurance of Videntis.
